“Firstly the location, don't come here unless you like parking at the back of a dodgy industrial estate and hunting for the restaurant amongst blocks of flats. We arrived for our meal and were told there was no record of our booking despite booking by phone at lunchtime that day. It turned out that someone at the restaurant had booked us in for the wrong time on the wrong day. Thankfully it was a Wednesday and not too busy so there was room for us. In the course of sitting down and being offered drinks we were spoken to by three different waiters and rushed in to ordering wine. Having ordered the steak we were kept waiting 45 minutes as all waiters that night (under-staffed) were serving two large groups. There is no excuse for this as a large group would have booked in advance so the restaurant should have laid on more staff. When our meals turned up I was thoroughly disappointed - sitting next to some limp salad with a vinegar dressing was a piece of overcooked tough steak.”

“Probably one of the best bars in London, if you like good music, drinks and people.. I like this bar as it's not just another boring style bar full of mannequins. We always have a good time here, because of the good atmosphere. The place does what is says on the can, it has all the elements for a great night, without poncing it up. I think they have all you need: simply a Bar with good bartenders and DJs playing good music, great!”

“This place is smooth.....really can't say more than that. Yes it's small but exclusive and well worth a visit...you will be back. The drinks are hand made and some of the best on mother earth. The proprietor is a cool cat so pay him a visit.”

“Not at all sure what to make of this place. Blinds were still being drilled to the windows when I popped in for a drink, they don't currently take cards for payment. A couple of the barstaff don't seem very with it and (hate to say it) the music they were playing was dire - R&B from the mid 90s (this CD was on repeat as the same songs played 3 times over). I'm not clear on what they're marketing themselves as - a place to grab a drink and a bite to eat, after work? (If so, the decor isn't in keeping and the loud music is hard to talk over) A cocktail bar (but it opens so early and what's the food about, then? Plus the music doesn't seem in keeping with a trendy cocktail bar?) The seating arrangement's a little odd inside and the garden's very small. I really want to this place to succeed and it's still very early days but...well....I'm not convinced....”

“I'd say that the biggest pro for this pub is its proximity to Islington Academy. To be fair, the food I had was good (pretty average) but very overpriced. AS per the post below, it's very hard to get a seat, let alone table. All in all, a pretty average pub that does the job, but not a lot more than that”

Skylon Restaurant, Bar and Grill (Bar / Restaurant)
Royal Festival Hall, Belvedere Road, South Bank, Waterloo, London, SE1 8XX
“The great location and lovely ambience of the Skylon was not matched by the food or service. One dish had to be returned as dry and stale {the duck), the reordered pasta dish while nicely presented was awash with oil. Other dishes for our party of six were of a poor quality. There appear to be some rather strange house rules with: wine and water not left on the table. The service was slow 20minute wait for the bill and the table left uncleared at a time when the place was not full. A shame when it had been choosen for a special occasion1.”

Beauberry House (Bar / Restaurant)
Belair Park, Gallery Road, Dulwich Village, London, SE21 7AB
“My husband and I had our wedding this year, 2010 at the beautiful venue Beauberry House. You cannot fault the absolute beauty of the house and it's setting. However, as we experienced difficulties on the day, the management lost their temper, made bad decisions on our behalf, and left my husband and I completely embarassed looking back on the day. We were charged £950 plus £312 service charge (£1262) for post ceremony and dinner drinks for 60 people. However, during the dinner, my guests were charged for their soft drinks! They did not accept my request for a refund for those guests drinks! I purchased freeze dried rose petals as instructed by the Event Manager, and she made an 'executive decision' not to use them as my table decoration for the day (even though I had spent hours and hours deciding what combination/colours/decorations to use!). So the tables did not look the way I had wanted them to, not to mention the waste of my time and money! We had a food tasting and chose what we wanted for our meal, but we were served with something different (polenta) which quiet frankly, was disgusting!!!! The ceremony was finished by 4.30pm, we were scheduled to be called for dinner at 5.45pm.... by 6.15pm we were bored, and left wandering around the house trying to find out what the hell was going on, in the end we just went upstairs and seated ourselves for dinner! Complete disorganisation and lack of communication. I had spent days and days organising the music myself onto iTunes. I can't even begin to explain the time and effort that went into the music on the day.... the music was completely messed up from nothing being played while my guests were waiting for me, to the same 3 songs being repeated over and over during the party!!!! We were told we had to supply our own wedding cake, but would be charged a £50 cake charge (i assume to cut and serve the cake!). However, the cake was never cut, nor was it served. They did not offer me a reimbursement of the charge! I had asked for non-alc. beer to be for the groom, & my father - but they were never served & when i asked for them, they only received 1 small bottle of beer each (i was charged £11 per head for beer!!!) To top it off, we had to witness the senior staff acting in a degrading manner towards the waiters. Completely inappropriate way to behave in front of paying customers and their guests!!! When I sent a letter of complaint to the HO, they not only dismissed every issue i raised, they also accused me of lying to get money out of them! What a disgrace!”

“Can olny comment on the bar. Staff are friendly, music OK and the atmosphere live. But it's a grotty kind of a bar, I've never been there and not atleast seen a fight but i'll keep going back because it's the only bar in the area which closes as late as 4”

People should definatly try this place out, very nice food and at a resonable price compared to every other iranian/iraqi restaurant!”

"The bouncers in the place were proper goons. They made sure to spoil the mood before letting us in, and then were totally unnecessarily aggressive to some of the (perfectly reasonable) punters just enjoying..." Which venue is this?
